The aim of the present work is to derive some technical theories of torsion of prismatic rods on the basis of the theory of bodies with internal constraints [1]. We obtain theory of constrained torsion of rods with compact cross-sections and technical theory of rods with compact cross-sections, which is more general than the Saint-Venant theory. In an example we study the rod with elliptic cross-section exposed to unconstrained torsion, obtaining solutions of general theory presented in Sec. 2 in [2] and of technical theory of torsion of rods with compact cross-sections and the analysis of the results.
