Stan naprężeń w walcu kołowym wywołany przyłożeniem stałej temperatury na pobocznicy

The paper presents the functions describing thermal stresses in a long circular cylinder in the case when its surface undergoes a sudden change of temperature due to heating it to a uniform temperature. These functions are found from a differential equation of this problem, the inertia effects being taken into account. The stresses are given in terms of dimensionless variables and dimensionless numbers determined by the mechanical and thermal properties of material. The analysis of the results shows that thermal stresses do not vanish when the time tends to infinity.
