The paper presents a verification of a certain model of forces acting on the base of vapour bubble in saturated pool boiling. It is established that the so-called wetting tension must be taken into account in the balance of forces acting on the bubble. The values of the wetting forces are measured for five liquids boiling on the heating surface. The relationship between the wetting tension and the virial coefficient is established.
